Browns At The Quarter:Good and Bad

Well Brown's fans hard to believe but we are alredy at the quarter mark to the 2011 seson. The Brown's entering the season with very different expectations, depending on who you talked to,have shown flashes of young, legitimate talent that's been absent since '99.They have also shown they know how to draw a little yellow flag ALOT and lackluster offensive sets. Now sitting at 2-2,Pat Shurmur and Co. will have the team under a thin microscope during the bye week prepping for the Oakland Raiders. Now THE GOOD:Joe Haden-the florida transplant has found a home in cleveland and can't say enough about the effort he puts in on and off the field. His escapades range from zany to touching and are always great to hear about. On top of that he is one of the NFL's premiere cornerbacks,QB's just can't get the ball past him,has great awareness.Haden is one of those players who would be embraced in any city he would land in.Defensive Line:Anchored by Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin ,the browns defense through three games were actually in the top five in sacks. They use shear, unapologetic strength to bulldoze opposing offensive linemen.Jabaal Sheard is a monster on the outside but will have to refine his game to keep up with the league's top D-Tackles in the league.
Colt McCoy:At times he looks really, really good, like the fourth quarter drive against Miami, but at times he looks almost lost.So he is on the fence on this one,he has good vision and when he gets outside the pocket he has showed good decision making sometimes but he is learning.
THE BAD:
Lack Of Discipline:They were better against the Titans but through the first three games the were yellow flag happy. The brown's need to keep there heads in the game for the full 60 minutes not 45.
Poor Recieving Corps:Please do not mistake this, the WR's not the TE's.The Brown's feature a stable full of no.2 recievers,Greg Little has shown glimpses of play making ability but is stuck behind two-recievers incapable of seperating themselves from the elite CB's of the NFL.Give the Brown's a double -team demanding deep threat and watch the offense open up.
Peyton Hillis:Know don't get me wrong Montrio Hardesty has proven his worth,a combination of speed and strength that make him very valuable moving forward. But,the Brown's inability to pass the ball,Hillis will have to get the rock at least 20-plus times a game.Hardesty won't keep D-Coordinators up all week before the game, but a healthy determined Hillis?Hillis is the kind of talent you can build offenses around and keep D-Coordinators up all week.

Where Was The Browns Defense Today?

The Browns defense came into today's game ranked third for pass defense in the NFL,but tomorrow they won't be.The secondary gave up three passing TD's in the first half, including several big pass plays. Two of the big passes were to Jared Cook for an 80-yard TD and one to Nate Washington for 57 yards to help set up there third TD.Pat Shurmur said "The big plays stretched the game out" and "You see how the game changes when big plays happen and the score gets out of hand",umm yes we as browns fans know this fact very well sadly.T.J. Ward had this to say "That's what happened, they have big plays and they got up early and that changed our whole game plan".Let's face it when you have to change your gameplan during the game it uaually doesn't turn out well.Ok I am done with talking about the secondary,I am sure the Brown's on both sides of the ball will take this bye week and work things out and get to know both systems alot better. This bye week in my opinion couldn't come at a better time for them,to regroup and try to fix some wounds in the O and D.The Browns led almost every stat today but the Titans were just striking so fast and so often.Colt McCoy had a record setting day by throwing 55 passes,he finished the game 40-61 for 350 yards and was sacked three times.WR Greg Little led the team with 57 yards and 6 catches,Mohamed Massaquoi had 6 catches for 46 yards, and TE Ben Watson had 6 catches for 48 yards and a TD.DB Joe Haden injured his left knee in the second half but later was reported it was a sprained knee.
